Fostering Collective Action: Stakeholder Engagement & Clean-Up Campaign

Climate change and environmental degradation are urgent global challenges threatening our planet and its inhabitants. In response, a recent initiative took bold steps to confront these issues head-on, emphasizing collective action and awareness.

The Stakeholder Engagement and Clean-Up Campaign was a dynamic event aimed at tackling the complex issues of climate change and environmental degradation. With a particular focus on marginalised groups, the initiative organised workshops and seminars to amplify their voices and empower them to actively participate in climate action and environmental clean-up efforts.

The approach was comprehensive, involving stakeholder engagement and educational awareness to mobilise individuals, organisations, and communities with a vested interest in addressing climate change and environmental concerns. Special attention was given to marginalised groups facing disproportionate impacts from these challenges.

Over the course of two days, participants were immersed in activities geared towards building capacity and fostering advocacy for sustainable solutions. On the first day, attendees gained valuable insights and skills to advocate for change within their networks. Practical training sessions, including how to grow and nurture seedlings for reforestation and urban greening, were conducted by expert Mrs. Refiloe. Additionally, participants learned about raised bed gardening techniques for backyard sustainability.

The second day of the event was dedicated to a hands-on cleaning campaign, guided by National Coordinator Nonhlanhla, who provided an overview and guidelines for targeted clean-up efforts. Participants rolled up their sleeves and took action, contributing to a cleaner environment and a brighter future for all.

As the event concluded, discussions centered on future collaborations and shared visions with PACJA SA, highlighting the ongoing commitment to collective action in addressing climate change and environmental degradation. Together, through initiatives like this, we can make a meaningful difference in safeguarding our planet for generations to come.
